Dear Friends,
For the past 25 years, SteppingStone has worked tirelessly to combat the obstacles that so many seniors and adults with disabilities face as they strive to maintain their independence and improve their health and enjoy a high quality of life within a supportive community.
To honor this 25 years of service, we are changing our name from North and South of Market Adult Day Health to SteppingStone. While our name and logo have changed, rest assured that our mission stays the same: To foster independent living for elders and adults with health challenges by providing programs and services that promote the health and wellness of our diverse communities.
As leaders in Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) in San Francisco, SteppingStone provides a cost-effective, stimulating, and comprehensive set of medical, social and therapeutic services that are all available under one roof. Each year we make it possible for hundreds of the city’s low-income seniors and adults with chronic health challenges to age in place and avoid unnecessary institutional placement.
Community support for SteppingStone is more important now than ever before. On May 29, 2009, Governor Schwarzenegger proposed $3 billion in budget cuts that include eliminating all adult day health care centers in California.
If approved, these budget cuts will displace over 36,000 current adult day health beneficiaries. Given the vulnerability of this client population, many would deteriorate quickly and have to move into a nursing home – at four times the cost to the taxpayer.
ADHC programs like those offered by SteppingStone serve adults with conditions that make independent living challenging, including those who are medically frail, cognitively impaired, suffering from a traumatic brain injury or have a chronic psychiatric condition.
Please join us in supporting these vulnerable members of our community and make a tax-deductible donation now. We need your help!
Later this summer, take a moment to visit SteppingStone‘s dynamic new website. Simply bookmark www.steppingstonehealth.org. In the interim, you can learn more about our program and activities by visiting our current website.
We welcome the opportunity to hear from you and look forward to your ideas and suggestions. Please email us at info@steppingstonehealth.org
Warm regards,
