Change in Adult Day Health Care (ADHC)

A settlement was reached with the State of California on 11/17/11 that stopped the elimination of Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) in California. The program was proposed to end on 12/1/11.

With this settlement, a relpacement program was created called Community Based Adult Services (CBAS) that begins on March 1, 2012. The new CBAS program will be substantially similar to ADHC services. Skilled nursing care, social services, therapies, personal care, family/caregiver support, meals and transpotation will continue to be delivered at SteppingStone's four licensed ADHC facilities in San Francisco. CBAS will be funded by Medicaid funds through an 1115 Medi-Cal Waiver.

Current and future ADHC participants whoar e Medi-Cal eligible, otherwise qualify for ADHC under current eligibility and medical necessity criteria, AND may also have mild to severe cognitive impairment, development disability, or chronic mental illness. By JJune 1, 2012, all Medi-Cal qualified CBAS participants will be required to enroll in Managed Care (San Francisco Health Plan or Anthem Blue Cross) in order to continue to receive CBAS services.

Participants enrolled through private pay arrangements and contracts with the Veterans Administration will continue to receive serices under the new CBAS program with no disruption of service.
