LGBTQ+ Program at SteppingStone

A Welcoming Space for LGBTQ+ Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities

Based at our Mission Creek Center the LGBTQ+ program operates five days a week in both the morning and afternoon care shifts.
Music Therapist Erin Gaines, who visits twice a week.

The program is operated jointly with the Curry Senior Center, offering a wide range of special activities including films, entertainment, special events, music therapy, discussion groups and art classes.

These are in addition to the health monitoring, therapies and activities offered all SteppingStone clients at the Center, including a nutritious hot lunch. All SteppingStone staff are trained on cultural humility, trauma informed care, and LGBTQ community issues.

The LGBTQ+ program at SteppingStone is a place for queer people to share space, have fun and celebrate community. It provides distinct activities for participants to meet, socialize and enjoy queer culture and community.

It is the only LGBTQ+ specific program operating in an adult day health care setting in California and undertaken with the support of the San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services.
